Question : Carilah dan tuliskan makna dari Antecedents of pronouns dan Dangling constructions. Kemudian berikannlah contohnya!

Answer:

1) Antecedents adalah sebuah kata benda atau noun yang diwakili oleh kata ganti pronoun, dimana kata tersebut dapat berupa sebuah kata, frase atau klausa. Biasanya antecedent memiliki posisi penempatan kata didalam sebuah kalimat berada sebelum kata ganti. Satu hal yang harus diperhatikan dalam penyusunan kalimat yang mengandung antecedent ialah bahwa pronoun haruslah setara dengan antecedent-nya. Artinya, jika antecedent memiliki bentuk singular maka pronoun juga harus singular, demikian juga sebaliknya.

2) Dangling Constructions adalah sekelompok kata yang penulis maksudkan untuk menjadi pengubah kata benda atau frasa tetapi kata benda atau frasa tersebut sebenarnya tidak ada dalam kalimat. Sebagai gantinya, sang pengubah secara keliru menggambarkan suatu kata benda atau frasa yang ada dalam kalimat, terkadang dengan hasil yang lucu.

- Example :

• After eating, the waiter gave us the bill. (The sentence grammar says the waiter did the eating but that's not what the writer really means.)

• While running, my shoe lost its heel. (I couldn’t slow that shoe down!)

• To avoid extinction, researchers hope to breed in captivity.

• After taking a three-month bicycle trip through Montana, my dog was happy to see me.

• After reading the book, the movie is going to be great.

By carrying the name "8party", Tamara can now attract many teenagers to use his services as a party planner. It never occurred to Tamara to become an entrepreneur. Tamara, who aspires to be a doctor, did not expect to enter the Communication Science Department.
